Vancouver psychologist specializing in CBT for anxiety, stress, and depression

Helping to create positive change in your life.

I believe that every individual has the ability to live a rich, meaningful life. Like many people, you may feel blocked in some way from enjoying life and my role as a therapist is to help you figure out what is getting in your way. I am here to help you get unstuck and feel happier in your life. I understand this is not where you thought you would be and it might be hard to think of coming in to talk to someone. I work hard to create a caring, compassionate environment in which you can feel comfortable exploring difficult issues in your life.

My aim is for you to learn new coping strategies that will be valuable to you for the rest of your life.

I’ll help you learn about yourself and together we will work out a program to facilitate your moving forward with confidence. I am flexible and will tailor my approach to best fit your needs and preferences. I am committed to working collaboratively so that the therapy experience can be as effective as possible.

I am committed to providing the highest quality counseling for anxiety, stress, and depression.

I am a Vancouver Psychologist who has been providing counseling services since I received my Ph.D. in 2000. I am certified as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist by the Canadian Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapies (CACBT). My counseling work has focused on helping adults and youth who are struggling with anxiety, depression, on-going stress (such as stress in the workplace), coping with chronic pain and illness, as well as those going through major life transitions. I also have worked as a consultant for Anxiety Canada developing promotional literature, such as the perinatal anxiety websites, Moms-to-be and New Moms. This includes videos of myself talking about anxiety. I also work for CBT Connections Ltd. training other health care professionals and have  taught at the University of British Columbia and Douglas College. I am currently doing all of my sessions by videoconferencing. Please see About Me for more information.

My therapy approach blends evidence based treatment techniques that have been proven by research to be effective in helping people. This includes standard Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques and more recent CBT variants that emphasize acceptance, self-compassion, and mindfulness, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). In addition, I utilize happiness enhancing strategies developed by researchers in the field of  Positive Psychology. Please see Services for more information.
